Frequently asked questions

What verification means, how evidence expires, and what this preview can show.

What does verified mean?

A defined set of independent checks supports the endpoint's standing: required actions respond correctly, required credentials pass, and synthetic transactions succeed. The public report names methods, sources, and timestamps. This preview does not perform those checks.

How is it different from an operator claim?

L1 describes operator assertions. Verified standing requires independent evidence. A schema-valid record or copied badge does not supply that evidence.

Who operates the program?

Hottub, Inc., which also maintains the specification and operates the index preview. The functions are separate; ownership is shared. “Independent checks” means independent of the operator's assertions, not an independent corporate entity.

How do the sites relate?

agentserviceschema.org defines the contract. verifiedserviceschema.org demonstrates the verification program. agentendpoints.org demonstrates discovery. The specification is open to other verifiers and indexes.

What are the levels?

L1 Described; L2 Callable; L3 Verified; L4 Monitored. Compare the evidence requirements.

How often is evidence refreshed?

Liveness expires within 24 hours. License and insurance checks expire within the issuing authority's cadence or 90 days, whichever is sooner. The L4 monitoring cadence must be published.

What happens on expiry?

Expired required evidence is removed from level computation. The endpoint retains only the highest level supported by current evidence. The report should show which check expired.

Can standing be suspended?

Yes. A failed required credential check or seven consecutive days of failed probes causes public suspension. The record remains visible and leaves default ranking until re-verified.

Do you check licenses and insurance?

The planned program checks them where a published vertical policy requires them, using named sources and explicit methods. Those operations are not live yet.

Can I pay for a higher level or reinstatement?

No. Payment cannot alter evidence requirements or failed results. The index's proposed sponsorship is disclosed and cannot override earned standing.

How do agents check signatures?

Trust the issuer, obtain its public keys, require ES256, verify the signature and endpoint binding, then check time bounds and current status as needed. Offline validation requires trusted keys obtained beforehand. Full guidance.

Is lookup live?

No. Every report is sample data at a fixed 2026-09-16 snapshot. Metrics were not measured; badges are not valid credentials.

How do appeals work?

A documented review and recheck process is planned. Appeals policy status.

What does it cost?

The intended L1 entry point is free. All published tier amounts are illustrative until launch. Pricing.
